A Gambler’s New Years Resolutions

Of course the beginning of January is always full of hopes, dreams and resolutions. As a gambler, my new years resolutions are these…

1) Read More About Gambling

Not only do I want to expand my collection of gambling literature,  I want to study and understand more about the games I love. I’m going to re-read Super System by Doyle Brunson for a start, and then read one new book about gambling strategy every month, starting with the bestseller Blackjack Attack in February.

2) Practice Gambling Online

A lot of reputable online casino have  a practice play option that allows you to play for imaginary credits instead of staking real money. This is great as it allows me to try out new systems and strategies without risking my cash. I resolve to play online in practice mode more when I feel like trying something new.

3) Start A Poker Circle

Poker has become a recent interest of mine and while playing online is fun, I want to develop my skills of bluffing and reading others in live games as well. So I’m going to start a poker circle with a few friends and we can have a poker night once a week and perhaps discuss the strategies we’re discovering as well.

Aspers Casino breaks record with 1 million visitors

A casino in the UK has broken all previous records of attendance, seeing an astonishing one million guests through its doors in 2012. The casino in question is the Aspers Casino, which is located in the Westfield Shopping Centre, the biggest shopping centre in Europe. In a year that saw the Olympics bring challenging restrictions to casino patronage, Aspers’ new record is seen in an even better light.

With parking restrictions around the Olympics providing an extra challenge, it is suprising that Aspers could break the record in such a difficult time. The fact that they’ve got a mind-boggling hundred and fifty slots, seventy gaming tables and a poker area that seats three hundred people, Aspers has certainly built an alluring gaming experience, and the people certainly came and filled up those impressively large facilities.

London is hardly a sleepy town with nothing but a casino to offer, but with Aspers’ constantly striving to create an international-standard gaming experience brings both locals and tourists back to Aspers again and again, giving them an unbelievable night that smacks of a modern London. And with every fun night that individuals experience at Aspers, they contribute to breaking even more records in the future.

WSOP First Online Tournament Has A Winner

Raj Pooni won the World Series Of Poker’s first online tournament, a milestone for the most renowned poker tournament in the world.

The 2012-13 circuit at River Rock Casino was the first WSOP event in Canada, and also featured a final table streamed online live with hole cards, another first for WSOP. Raj Pooni won Event 11, which had a $320 buy-in and was played in the style of No-Limit Hold ‘Em.

So, I’ve blogged before about Betable and its nifty service of providing a back-end gambling solution to social gaming and app developers. There are plenty of books and even video series that promise to teach gamblers the age-old systems of counting cards. But now new technology is being utilized to teach the newest techniques. Hilarious gambling dream interpretations

While I’m not much for the esoteric and otherworldly, I happened to come across quite an old-fashioned dream interpretation dictionary and looked up some gambling-related phrases. It gave me a good chuckle – have you had any of the dreams below?

This book seems to have it out for women especially, saying that everything they dream will mean that they’ll have a bad reputation at best, at worst ugly children and a big house that you have to clean yourself.

Luckity is the next big thing

A new site called Luckity.com is making waves in the American gambling industry. While styling itself as a social gaming outfit such as Farmville and other widely popular, animated and bright sites overseas, its secret weapon is that players actually bet on horse races rather than random number generators that most online gambling outfits use.

This strange choice is actually exploiting a loophole in the American online gambling industry, which allows online betting on horse races across state lines.
